# Vela Breakout pricing

> Prices in US dollars, charged per call from prepaid credit. In effect since 2026-10-29. The same prices apply to the HTTP API (https://breakout.vela.partners/api/v1) and the MCP server (https://breakout.vela.partners/mcp).

A list costs the same whatever its length (1 to 25 rows).

Questions: A question costs what its language model calls cost us, plus 20%. A typical one is about $0.005; the exact amount shows under each answer.

## Not charged

- Any call that fails: 400 bad input, 401 no key, 402 out of credit, 404 not found, 429 too many calls, 503 try again.
- An empty answer: a 200 whose list is empty (`rows: []`, `signals: []`, `ideas: []`, `companies: []`; a ranking also needs no `new_launches`).

## Free

- 25 data calls a day without credit: over MCP with no key, or with a key whose credit is used up.
- Every page of the site is free to read.

## Paying

- Add credit at https://breakout.vela.partners/account: $5, $10, $25. Auto-pay can top up when credit runs low.
- Create a key there and send it as `Authorization: Bearer <key>`.
- Limits: 120 calls a minute per key.
